David Werbeloff

Cellist Michael Unterman is currently in his second year at the Historical Performance program at Juilliard, where he is a student of Phoebe Carrai. Highlights from his first year include orchestral performances led by William Christie, Christoph Hammer, Robert Mealy and Monica Huggett, as well as chamber music performances in Alice Tully Hall, Trinity Wall Street, and the Hispanic Society of America. Michael is also an active performer on modern cello, as a member of the chamber orchestra A Far Cry, and a frequent performer with the contemporary ensemble Callithumpian Consort. He received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the New England Conservatory, studying with Laurence Lesser and Natasha Brofsky, and, in 2008, was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to study in Barcelona, Spain with Lluis Claret and the Quartetto Casals.
